Reinhard SEELIGER, Organ

Reinhard Seeliger was born in Hirschberg, Saale, Germany. He studied organ at the Franz Liszt Academy
of Music in Weimar with Johannes Schäfer. Seeliger continued his studies in master classes in Budapest (Ferenc Gergely), Prague (Milán Šlechta) and Weimar (Matthias Eisenberg).

 

Following his studies he was appointed professor from 1985 till 1994 at the Academy of Sacred Music in Görlitz and served as its rector from 1994 till 2008. Since 1990 Reinhard Seeliger has been Director of Music at St. Peter and Paul in Görlitz. As organist he acts as authorized organ expert of the Protestant Church of Berlin-Brandenburg and Silesian Oberlausitz, and is President of the society „Freundeskreis Görlitzer Sonnenorgel eV“. He was chief initiator of the reconstruction of the organ of St. Peter and Paul “Görlitzer Sonnenorgel” (“Görlitz Sun Organ”) and has been its organist since 1997.

 

In addition to all these functions, Mr. Seeliger is leader of the Bach Choir in Görlitz (since 1996) and of the Görlitz Bach Festival. Mr. Seeliger has performed as organist in several European countries and in the U.S.A. CD productions and appearances for radio and television.
