History of Music in Toronto
A City walk arranged by City Historian Bruce Bell and Simcha ben Abraham.

This unique 90min tour will provide a synopsis to the 200-year history and music history of Toronto. We’ll walk around Old Town Toronto including stops at: St. James Cathedral, Mechanics Hall, Old Opera and other historical sites along the way.

The Oldest Organ in Toronto

St. John’s York Mills Anglican Church is the second oldest church in Toronto and preserves the oldest organ in Toronto. This 1847 instrument with its three inter-changeable barrels of 10 hymn tunes each provided the only accompaniment for congregational singing until 1864.
Bill Dennis provides a breathtaking chance to hear this unique instrument!
