Andrew AGER, Organ and Composer
Andrew Ager is one of Canada’s most widely performed composers, having had recent premieres in Madrid, London, the US, and Vienna.
His opera "Frankenstein - or the Modern Prometheus" was premiered in Toronto in January and was sold out. It is being re-mounted in Ottawa in summer 2011 and will be available on DVD in April 2010.
He has been commissioned by the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy to write his second opera "The Wings of the Dove" for its premiere in summer 2012. His "Concerto for Organ and Orchestra" will be premiered by Maxine Thevenot, soloist, in New York City in October 2011.
Renowned as a modern composer with a "true sense of lyricism", his style has become known as an intriguing mixture of contemporary language with an historically formed sense of structure.
