Henri Ormieres, Carcassonne / France

Henri ORMIERES, Organ

Henri Ormieres was born in Carcassonne, in the south of France, and began to play the piano and the organ at an early age. Following his studies at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux with Francis Chapelet (Organ), he continued his scholarship in Paris with Patrice Holiner (Piano) and Blandine Verlet (Harpsichord). At the same time, he studied the art of composition with Yvonne Desportes, and benefited from the advice of the organist François-Henri Houbart. Mr. Ormieres is Organist of Saint-Vincent’s Church in Carcassonne, and director of the Choeur Saint-Louis, a choir which he founded and frequently performs with.

He appears in concert with the Académie des Grandes Ecoles et Universités de Paris, the Choeur et Orchestre Vincent d’Indy, and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, in performances of concertos by Bach, Händel, Haydn, Poulenc, Guilmant, and the Saint-Saens Symphony N°3. He has been regularly invited to perform at festivals in France (Festival International de Lourdes, Festival de Musique Sacrée de Dax, Festival de Carcassonne, Festival de Saoû), as well as abroad (Belgium, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, and the USA).
